Cake decorator/designer (Baltimore)
16 - 24 hours a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, semi-flexible schedule. During busy season, possibility for increased hours.
Acclaimed, specialized creative cake studio seeks talented, positive, productive, and proactive professional to be our cake decorator. We are an eclectic group of visionaries who work incredibly hard and have a great deal of fun while producing extraordinary cakes. We need an exceptional cake decorator to help make our wildest cake dreams into awesome (and edible) realities. This person will work with our team on designing and creating epic cakes.
Decorating cakes from start to finish. Covering cakes, applying decorations (piping, painting, making and applying fondant and gum paste decorations), and building cakes.
Working with a team and collaborating with other decorators on design, problem-solving and decoration.
Ensuring that contractual details are met (colors, design, specifics items listed in contract including specifications to serving size and dietary restrictions).
Ordering and keeping inventory of decorator supplies.
Maintaining a clean, orderly, and functioning studio space.
Must have portfolio examples of fondant covered cakes, piped cakes, and varied examples of cakes decorated with fondant.
Must have a wide range of cake decorating skills including covering cakes in fondant, piping, painting, and carving cake into shapes.
Must have plenty of experience working with fondant and comfort using it as your main medium.
Strong time-management skills, ability to prioritize and multitasking are essential.
Must be available to deal with stressful situations and potentially work longer hours during our busy seasons.
Attention to detail - must have a stellar work ethic and take extreme pride in a job well done.
Must work quickly, cleanly, and efficiently.
