Bourdain, Big Bun, and Ben

Happy Hump Day, my little birds!

Someone just sent us a link to an MSN feature about Anthony Bourdain's favorite food shows on television.  We are all rather kirking out because he listed Ace of Cakes among them! The great Tony B is a hero to many of us and a compliment from him is worth its weight in gold. We're truly honored!

The most amazing thing happened last week. Something I have dreamed of nearly my whole life and never thought I would actually experience. I got to ride....IN THE WEINERMOBILE. You may recall from our time at the Fourth of July parade last summer my absolute highlight was seeing the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile in person. I thought THAT was exciting....riding in it is a whole 'nother level of hot doggie goodness.

A week back we got word from Lunch Lovin' Larisa, one of the chosen few whose JOB is to drive the thing, that the Weinermobile would be cruising through Baltimore and would we like them to swing by the bakery? Are you kidding? What a silly question. Their first attempt to get here was marred by a freak snow storm last Monday, but then they banged a giant hot-dog sized u-turn and showed up on Wednesday. And what a Wednesday it was!

As soon as we saw BIG BUN approaching ecstatic shrieks erupted out of the bakery (mostly from Lauren). Then Larisa and her cohort Adam parked the Weinermobile in the alley next to our building. I know this because I saw it on the security camera. Hilarity ensued, with the greatest security camera picture ever:

Then they pulled around front so we could take in the fully glory of the beast:
Duff in front of BIG BUN. I do not envy those who must parallel park that thing.

The OMWM team members Larisa and Adam with Lauren...they have Oscar Meyer UNIFORMS. It's so cool.

As if BIG BUN weren't enough, Larisa and Adam also managed to create their own Weinermobile cake in their hotel room! This was done by cutting up store bought sheetcakes. Pretty amazing, huh? And it was GOOD.

The biggest highlight was taking a ride inside. It's all decorated in mustard and hotdog colors, and it has a loud speaker (Duff had his way with) and a special horn that plays "My bologna has a first name...". They hooked us up with Weinermobile stickers and whistles and keychains...it was all too much. Like a dream.

Bun and buns of franks to Adam and Larisa! If you want to keep up with the adventures of the Weinermobile, they have their own Hot Dogger Blog!

No need to wait any longer, it's now time for....
