Yes, Virginia - There are good people in the world.

Happy Friday, my little birds.

Have you ever had a day wherein you start to wonder what is wrong with everyone in the world? I'm having one of those days. I feel beat up by and disappointed and disillusioned with the universe. I won't get into why. However, sometimes all it takes is one little act of kindness to restore your faith in humanity and lift your spirits into the stratosphere.

Last week I got a phone call from a guy named Brian. Brian told me that he had been the Best Man in his friend's wedding last September. He said that he hadn't worn the suit that he wore in the wedding for months. He recently put it on for the first time in ages and discovered an envelope in the pocket. The envelope was a note from the bride and groom, with a tip for whomever delivered their wedding cake. Brian had been asked to make sure the cake guy got tipped, and had inadvertently not done so. Well, he felt bad, and called me to ask us for our mailing address. This afternoon I got the envelope with this note.

Can you BELIEVE how awesome Brian is? Nine months later, and he took the time to put the tip in the mail to make sure whomever delivered the cake got the gratuity. I am honestly absolutely amazed at his kindness and honesty. Brian, you made my day.

Our intrepid delivery guy Sean was the person who took the cake in question. Well, when Sean came in this afternoon and I told him the story and presented him with the cash, he was elated. "It's Fri-DAY!" he exclaimed. Indeed it is.

Hoping your whole weekend is full of such random acts of kindness,

Mary Alice
