It's a quiet week here on Remington Avenue, because our film crew is down this week. No, this does not mean that they're feeling blue, it means they're having a week off to go home and chillax. Generally we shoot for three weeks and then have a down week, shoot for three weeks and then have a down week, repeat as needed.
And they're going to need the rest, because next week we are filming....wait for it....wait for it.... our ONE HUNDREDTH EPISODE of Ace of Cakes! We seriously can't believe that is actually about to happen. There are lots of fun and big things in store for the 100th Ep Fiesta week, too.
Elena suggested that the cast of Lost come to Baltimore to make our 100th Ep cake to return the favor. Jorge, if you're reading this, we're waiting for you.
There have been some pretty killer cake creations happening here in the last couple of weeks. Here are some of our favorites.
Mary Smith decorated this elegant wintry bird cake - each bird has a different wallpaper texture on their wings...I love this cake so much!
Team Ben-Anna brought this old school gas pump together:
Ben and Katherine teamed up for this insanely huge Mr. Clean creation - it's hard to tell in this photo but he is three and a half feet tall! Props are also due to our intrepid delivery dudes Sean and Emmanuel for safely bringing Mr. Clean all the way to Chicago. He was a big hit at the International Home + Housewares Show.
Finally, Anna used our client's Bat Mitzvah invitations as inspiration for this adorable flower cake:
No more wasted cake! For the hundreds and hundreds of you who have emailed us to ask what we do with our cake scraps, I am happy to report that they (along with all our organic/compostable trash) are now being used to create rich fantastic soil with which to regreen the earth, by the good people at EnviRelation. More details about this amazing process will be featured on an upcoming AoC episode, but in the meantime, enjoy this delicious photo of all the stuff we are turning into dirt:
