How do I order a cake?

Check out the FAQ below, then visit our LA Order pageEvery cake we make is custom made to order from start to finish.

If you have a specific cake image that you would like us to recreate, we are happy to quote this out for you. Please attach photos! Feel free to reference the cakes on our gallery and Instagram.

Charm City Cakes is known for creating custom cake designs, and we are happy to create an original design for you. Please let us know the theme, approximate size, color scheme, and any message that you would like to include on your cake. Also be sure to note if you would like us to include sculpted toppers, figures, flowers, or other special details. Prior to getting started, we will need to collect a $100 design fee which will be applied to the final cost of your cake should you wish to move forward.

Can I visit your shop?

We are open by appointment only.

How much are your cakes?

All of our cakes are individually priced based on the complexity of their design. Because our cakes are completely custom made, we do not have a standardized pricing list.

Custom tiered cakes start at $600 and 3D sculptural cakes start at $1000.

Because of the size and specialized nature of our team we are unable to take on projects under $600. If you are looking for a small cake or cupcakes on short notice, contact our next door neighbor and sister business Duff's Cakemix at info*at*duffscakemix*dot*com!

What’s your payment policy?

We ask that clients pay a 50% deposit up front to reserve space on our production calendar. The remaining half is due 2 weeks prior to the date that you would like your cake.

Cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full by credit card at the time of ordering. Deposits are non-refundable.

If you cancel your order, your balance payment is refundable provided Charm City Cakes is notified at least 5 business days prior to the event. There is no payment refund on orders canceled within 5 business days of the event.

Do you deliver?

Delivery is available for wedding cakes and cakes that require on-site assembly. We cannot guarantee that any particular staff member will deliver your cake.

Deliveries within 5 miles of our shop are priced at a flat rate of $100.

Delivery fees are calculated by distance traveled and are roughly $100 an hour both ways. Anything longer than five hours is determined on a case-by-case basis.

While it is generally not a problem for clients to transport smaller cakes, self-transporting any cake is at your own risk. Charm City Cakes does not recommend clients self-transport 3D/sculptural cakes, cakes over 2 tiers tall, or any cake more than 3 hours and is not responsible for any damage that may occur to any client-transported cake once it has left our bakery.

Do you ship your cakes?

While we are always eager to connect with cake lovers nationwide, we do not currently ship our cakes.

Are you hiring?

We are always looking for talented decorators to work with. If you are an artist living in the Los Angeles area and would like to be considered for a future position, send us a resume with a few examples of your work here. While we are happy to look at your work, please note that we are unable to respond to everyone individually.

I have a question about decorating / my school project / starting a bakery / culinary school / my life’s purpose.

We wish we could answer every question in stupendously personalized detail. However, due to the redonculous crazy number of emails we get, that’s simply not possible and we can’t answer questions about these topics.
