This weekend, Duff will be living it up at the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival. Tickets are selling out fast so if you want to enjoy lots of sun, food, wine, and your favorite chefs, act now! If you'd rather just rock and roll, Duff's band, soihadto, will be opening for Black Label Society at the House of Blues on Sunday night.
As you may or may not be aware, we get a lot of email. A LOT. I'm talking hundreds and hundreds a day. It can get overwhelming. Lots of people email with questions about particular things they have seen on Ace of Cakes so I thought I'd take a moment to answer some of the questions I get over and over. And OVER.
Your Top AoC Questions: ANSWERED!
Q: Where did you get your blue chairs?
A: We traded for them with Infinite Furniture Solutions. However, they are not a retail company, they work with schools to provide educational furniture. So they're not really for sale on their website. But if you're a school administrator looking for really exciting furniture (really! there is such a thing!) check them out.
Q: What was the name of the artist whose art Elena replicated on the zombie hand cake?
A: None other than skater Kris Markovich, who came to see us a couple years back at the bakery. You can check out his work at givenskateboards.com.
Q: Is Mary Alice aware the "separation of church and state" is in fact NOT in the constitution, like she said it was?
A: Yes, she is very aware of this. If you had bothered to read our blog before you emailed, you'd know that.
Q: What was the name of the doctor at Johns Hopkins Mary Smith made the ear cake for?
A: His name is Dr. Lloyd Minor.
Q: What was that cute book about the mice that Katherine made a cake of?
A: The book is called The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres, by Marie Letourneau.
Q: Are Erica and Mary Alice related?
A: No, they are not. But they both have short bangs and eyeglasses.
Q: Where did Duff get that blue hat that says "Chocolate" on it?
A: Duff got it while we were in Hawaii. It's from Chocolate Skateboards.
Q: Where did you guys get your tattoos when you all went together?
A: We got inked at the Baltimore Tattoo Museum.
Q: Where did Mary Alice get her (insert description here) t-shirt?
A: Most of Mary Alice's T-Shirts are from Threadless. Speaking of which, there are only a few days left to enter the Threadcakes cake decorating competition - - so get your submissions in now!
Q: What is your recipe for fondant?
A: We don't make our fondant, we buy it. We use Satin Ice brand.
I hope this helps. If you have a pressing question that hasn't been answered, let us know!
