We're back from break and back to cakes and back to shooting (season 8!) and rocking and rolling and feeling great. Wow. That was way rhymey.
Ace of Cakes: The Book
We are very excited to announce that Ace of Cakes: The Book is on its way! This book has been a LONG time coming (work was started on it nearly two years ago) but the finished product is really, really cool. The official release date is Tuesday, October 20th, but you can pre-order online now. There will be a special episode of Ace of Cakes that shows the making-of process that will air in the US this October...somehow our friends in the UK have already seen it! You sneaky devils! Duff and the gang will be making lots of appearances and book signings once it's out, so check in here for dates and locations soon.
This week's fan art is from the adorable and talented 7 year-old Clara Ribiero of Ashland, Mass. Her Mom came home from work to discover that she had created a "Wall of Fame" with our entire staff on it. We are all really, really amazed at her artwork. Some of the likenesses of our faces are REALLY spot-on (Adam? Ben? SO perfect!).
Pretty much the cutest ever.
Many many folks emailed regarding last night's episode requesting my deviled egg recipe. Here you go!
Mary Alice's Deviled Eggs
Adapted from The Joy of Cooking
12 hard boiled eggs (use the oldest eggs that are still ok to eat. Put them directly into gently boiling water and simmer gently for 20 minutes. Shell.)
Slice eggs in half and remove yolks into large bowl.
Smoosh up yolks really good with a fork, then add:
6 tablespoons mayo
6-8 teaspoons of minced fresh tarragon, fresh Italian parsley, and fresh chives (no substitutions here - this is the key to the yum)
4 teaspoons dijon mustard
3 teaspoons champagne vinegar
3 minced shallots
1 splash of Worcestershire sauce
lots of ground pepper
1/8 teaspoon hot curry powder (more to taste)
Use pastry bag to fill eggs. Sprinkle with hot paprika. Enjoy!
Congratulations, Duffy and Kelly!
Duffy, a former Ace of Cakes sound guy and dear friend of the bakery, is getting hitched tomorrow to his lovely bride, Kelly. The two of them met in a roundabout kind of way because of Charm City Cakes, and we are all so thrilled to be celebrating their wedding with them tomorrow.
