How much are your cakes?
Because our cakes are completely custom made, and priced individually by the complexity of their design, we do not have a standard price list.

Wedding and tiered cakes start at $7 a serving. We find that most of our clients choose designs that start at about $15 per serving. There is a 50 serving minimum on wedding and tiered cakes.

3D, sculptural cakes start at $1000.

We are happy to work within your event budget and encourage you to contact us for a design/tasting appointment so that we can discuss your cake order in person. We feel meeting with someone face-to-face and getting to know their ideas is the best way to plan a spectacular cake!

Can I visit your shop?
Unfortunately, we don't offer tours or have the resources to handle visitors here. We are a very small, very busy working bakery. Every cake we make is handcrafted to order, and while that makes for some really spectacular cakes, it doesn't leave us with time for visitors. So we can't have people stopping in to watch. If you show up anyway, we will not be able to let you come inside. We don't want to let you down and we don't want to feel like jerks and turn you away. We are truly very sorry to be so stern and such, but there are no exceptions to this policy.

We do not give tours of our facility to groups.

If you want an awesome view of our bakery for free without the hassle of traveling to Baltimore, check out our virtual tour!

We do not sell our merchandise at the bakery. Merchandise is available for purchase online via credit card.

CCC merchandise is also available for purchase at Best of Baltimore and The Dizz.

What's your payment policy?

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order; the remainder is due at least two weeks prior to your event. Your order is not confirmed until we have received your signed contract and 50% non-refundable deposit.

Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa, AmEx, or Mastercard, and Discover). Cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full by credit card at the time of ordering. Deposits are non-refundable.

If you cancel your order, your balance payment is refundable provided Charm City Cakes is notified at least five (5) business days prior to the event. There is no payment refund on orders canceled within five (5) business days of the event.

Design/Tasting appointments are held for most, but not all, cake orders. There is a non-refundable $50 deposit required for appointments, payable by credit card. The $50 deposit will be deducted from the final cost of your cake.

Event dates are held for you through the date of your appointment or quote, and five (5) business days afterwards.  If we do not receive a signed contract and 50% deposit within five (5) business days of your appointment or quote, your date may become unavailable.

Do you deliver?

Delivery is available for wedding cakes and cakes that require on-site assembly. We cannot guarantee that any particular staff member will deliver your cake.

We do not ship our cakes.

Delivery fees are calculated by distance traveled. Our standard delivery range is roughly 7 hours from Baltimore. Longer deliveries are occasionally arranged, but must be determined on a case-by-case basis.  Any delivery that totals more than 10 travel hours is subject to an additional fee to cover food/lodging for our staff.

While it is generally not a problem for clients to transport smaller cakes, self-transporting any cake is at your own risk. Charm City Cakes does not recommend clients self-transport 3D/sculptural cakes, cakes over 2 tiers tall, or any cake more than 3 hours and is not responsible for any damage that may occur to any client-transported cake once it has left our bakery.

I have a question about decorating / my school project / starting a bakery / culinary school / my life's purpose.
We wish we could answer every question in stupendously personalized detail. However, due to the redonculous crazy number of emails we get, that’s simply not possible and we can’t answer questions about these topics.

Check out our blog for some of the most commonly asked cake questions - we try to answer as many as we can there.

If you’re looking for great cake technique info, check out the books Confetti Cakes by Elisa Strauss, Cake Art by the Culinary Institute of America, Cakewalk by Margaret Braun, and Cakes To Dream On by Colette Peters.

The web forums at www.sugarbuzz.us and www.cakecentral.com are also wonderful resources.
